I was looking back at the Novato Youth Soccer Association 2013 season and was very proud to see how well our younger teams did in NorCal Premier Soccer State Cup

The select teams each year compete in the NorCal State Cups and are placed in brackets with teams of similar skill sets.

The children, parents, and coaches should all be proud of how far each team advanced in the age group of U9-U10!

2 teams in the Quarterfinals

3 Teams in the Semifinals

1 Team in the Final

4 Teams in the Championship

One team won the “Final” round and two teams won the “Championship” round.

I am looking forward to the 2014 season!

Select Soccer for new parents.  What should I ask after tryouts?

Your son or daughter has been playing recreational soccer and now is considering playing “select” soccer.    A parent that is not sure what this means may find it be a very confusing maze of questions.  Many may not have a clear idea on what questions to ask.   One thing that I get asked often is what should I ask after my child attends try-outs?      A few questions to consider:

How many players will there be on the team?

What is the coaching philosophy of the club / team?

What position(s) do you see my child playing?  

Will the club be moving players between teams?

Can my child be “cut” from the soccer club?

Tell me about the tournaments that are upcoming and the competition you expect.  

How many returning players will you have?

It is very important to spend the time to get to know the coach and the club that you are considering your child to join.   It's a big commitment for your family!
